Full Text Searchable MPEP
edition 8:
CATPrep provides searchable copies of revisions of edition 8 of
the Manual of Patent Examining Procedure as a service to the legal community,
prospective USPTO registration examinees, and our Patent
Bar Simulator software customers.
Please note that these files are large.
Broadband users will need about 15 minutes to complete the download,
and dial-up users of 56k modems may need more than 70 minutes.
Most users can simply
"right-click" the links below and select "Save-as" to save the file on their
computer.
Please note that
the 'MPEP Viewer' available on test day is based on
Adobe Acrobat
Reader 5, which is not the latest version. Recent versions of Acrobat
Reader provide a new search interface. To emulate the search function available
on test day, we recommend only using version 5 which is
freely available
here.

Please Note: The
computer-delivered USPTO registration
exam is currently proctored at locations with access to a copy of the
Manual of Patent Examining Procedure (MPEP) that can only be searched
for specific text one
chapter at a time. The copies of the MPEP provided here
are actually easier
to search than the ones available during the actual exam because they
support the ability to search the MPEP in its entirety.
To emulate the
same chapter-by-chapter MPEP
search available during the actual exam, you should download the MPEP
Edition 8 Revision 4 in multiple files (linked above) and use
Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 (also linked above) to view and search each
chapter of the MPEP.

that page in our single file versions of the MPEP. This quick search is also integrated into the menu of
our Patent Bar Simulator. The USPTO Exam currently uses
Revision 4, but both
revisions 3 and 4 may be searched using the form below.
