GMAT Practice Tests Update

February 6th, 2011

CATPrep has released a major update to their computer adaptive test offerings for the GMAT. This latest release of the CATPrep GMAT Simulator includes performance enhancements and generally improved user experience for students with Adobe’s Flash Player 10 and above. It comes complete with pools of original authentic questions, from the quantitative, verbal, and AWA sections of the GMAT. The software also features performance-based question selection algorithms, an accurate scoring engine, and the ability to run on all major computer operating systems.

CATPrep, an online educational software and services provider, today announced the immediate availability of their latest GMAT Simulator software. Created to ease post-exam review of completed simulated GMAT sessions, the new simulator software raises the bar for realistic reproductions of the computer adaptive Graduate Management Admission Test by featuring exclusive performance-based question selection algorithms that accurately simulate the real computer-based GMAT by selecting each subsequent question from a pool of questions of varying difficulty based on the current performance of the test-taker.

The new simulator distinguishes itself further by including original & authentic questions encompassing the quantitative, verbal, and Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) sections of the GMAT. The simulator’s user-interface was designed to closely resemble the true GMAT “look and feel” by replicating the controls and interface of the real exam using platform independent Adobe Flash technology which enables the Simulator to run on all major operating systems.

“Our simulator targets prospective graduate school candidates who have already completed their individual review regimens,” said Cindy Anderson, project manager, and project lead for the CATPrep GMAT Simulator. “Most of our students are seeking a comprehensive simulation of the GMAT that enables them to practice their test-taking strategies and techniques in an realistic environment. By providing feedback for various strategies and time-management techniques, our practice tests help our students achieve their maximum possible score when it matters most…the day they sit for the real exam.”

Resolving Error #1010

February 5th, 2011

If you receive a message indicating an error #1010 while our software is running, then it is very likely that our software is unable to save your progress to your local hard drive. This will prevent you from restarting if you quit before completing your test for any reason.

Hundreds of students use our software daily and it works flawlessly for the vast majority of them – of course every setup is potentially different and some errors are unavoidable. But have no fear, our support team is here to help.

To fix this error, first close all other applications and insure that your web browser is the only application running. This reduces the chance that another application could interfere with the Adobe Flash Player plugin that our tests rely upon.

In addition to insuring we are the only software running when you launch a simulated test – you should insure you are running the latest version of Adobe’s Flash Player by visiting their website here.

When you follow that link, you’ll be offered a free upgrade to the latest flash player available. Please install it and then restart as applicable. If you continue to encounter the error #1010, please contact our support team directly by opening a support ticket or through email.

Customer Query: Disabled Popups

December 24th, 2010

A customer recently wrote us with the following: “I downloaded the software necessary for the simulated practice test demo, but it didn’t pop up in a different window.”

We responded by explaining that our practice test software does not need to popup in a new browser window in order to function. We do attempt to launch it in a new window for your convenience, but if the popup does not succeed due to your browser security settings or popup blockers, you will be presented with a page with a direct link to launch our practice test software.
